Lawrence Nyazema was appointed Commercial Director which incorporates the Corporate business in June 2011. Previously he was the Treasurer for the bank from July 2007. Prior to this he held the role of Head of Market Making and Liquidity Management, a position to which he had been appointed to in February 2004.
Lawrence is a passionate leader with strong relationship building skills and a veritable track record of successful management. His superb grasp of all current economic, social and regulatory issues coupled with his trademark interpersonal skills enable him to push performance improvement whilst at the same time delivering growth to the business and to clients.
Among clients, he is seen as the “go-to” person for clear-cut solutions for commercial objectives. He has built a set of key relationships within the SADC region, with decision-making executives at clients, and with other influencers/catalysts in business, government, and the community at large. He leverages these relationships to deliver value and consistently generate new opportunities with new and existing clients. Lawrence creates, manages, and leads customer-facing teams, providing appropriate coaching and mentoring to junior team members along the way.
Lawrence holds a Masters of Science in Finance with the University of London and a BBA degree from the Management College of Southern Africa. He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Bankers Zimbabwe and South Africa. He also holds an advanced diploma in International Banking and Treasury Management and an ACI dealing certificate. He trained as an Investment Banker with Trimaster International of the Netherlands in 2006.
